Primary Guidance

  • Pre-fabricated metal buildings are most cost-effective type of construction.
  • Minimum floor loading is 1200 psf. Assume bulk commodities will be stacked to the eaves.
  • For roof loading, consider additional dead load to include solar panels or green roof, as agency energy and environmental programs require (~30 psf additional DL).
  • For mission critical facilities located in areas susceptible to flooding, consider including a backup generator installed above the 100 year FEMA flood plain.
